Getting Started

A focus block is a dedicated time slot for a specific task or category. Instead of a vague to-do list, you assign every task to a specific hour. This is called time-blocking — the method used by Cal Newport, Elon Musk, and most high-output professionals.

Tap the black + button at the bottom-right of the Today screen. Fill in the title, start and end time, category, and energy level. Tap Save. Your block appears on today's timeline ordered by start time.

Peak — Your highest-clarity hours. Reserve for deep work, creative thinking, and hard problems. Shallow — Medium energy. Good for meetings, emails, and lighter tasks. Admin — Low energy time. Billing, filing, and routine tasks that don't need focus.

Timer & Focus

Select a block on the Focus tab, then hit play. Work until the timer ends (default 25 min), then take a short break (5 min). After 4 sessions you earn a long break (20 min). You can customise all durations in Settings → Pomodoro.

Tap "Enter focus mode" on the Focus screen for a full-screen distraction-free timer overlay. The block title shows at the top. Tap Exit to return. You can also tap Space on desktop to play/pause.

Brown noise masks distracting background sounds. Rain adds a calming texture. Binaural beats (40 Hz) are associated with gamma brainwave activity linked to focus. All sounds are generated locally — no network required and no battery cost from streaming.

Data & Privacy

100% on your device, in your browser's IndexedDB. No accounts. No servers. No data ever leaves your device. Export your data as JSON from Settings → Data → Export at any time.

Go to Settings → Data → Export data to download a JSON file. On your new device, go to Settings → Data → Import data and select the file. All your blocks and categories will be restored.

The parking lot is a capture list for tasks you know you need to do but haven't scheduled yet. Add a task here to get it off your mind. When you're ready, tap Schedule to create a block for it automatically.

1. Overview

Focus Block Planner ("Focus", "we", "us") is a local-first productivity application. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data we process and how.

2. Data We Collect

We collect nothing. Focus stores all your data — blocks, categories, sessions, and settings — exclusively on your device using the browser's IndexedDB API.

No user accounts are required or created.
No data is transmitted to any server.
No analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs are embedded.
No advertising networks have access to this app.

3. Local Storage

All app data resides in your browser's IndexedDB. This data remains entirely under your control. You may export, import, or permanently delete all data at any time via Settings → Data.

4. Font Loading

Focus loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts on first launch. This is a standard CDN request. Google's font service may log the request IP per their own privacy policy. No other third-party requests are made.

5. Service Worker & Offline Use

If you install Focus as a PWA, a service worker caches the app shell locally so it works offline. This cache is stored on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

6. Children

Focus does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app contains no in-app purchases that target minors.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected in the "What's New" section with the updated date shown above.

2. License

Focus grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the application for your individual productivity purposes. You may not redistribute, resell, or reverse-engineer the app.

3. User Data

All data you create in Focus belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your blocks, tasks, categories, or session history. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups via the Export feature.

4. Acceptable Use

Focus is a personal productivity tool. You agree not to use it for any unlawful purpose or to interfere with its operation.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

Focus is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that data stored via browser APIs will persist indefinitely (browsers may clear storage under low-disk conditions).

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Focus and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app, including data loss.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

8. Updates

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
